Volte -temps dans le port de Bayonne…Soudain a surgi le songe d’une peinture qui prendrait la forme d’un livre.
Il revisite le port industriel de la ville basque de Bayonne.
Paysage singulier, rythmé de grues monumentales et de bateaux marchands, il ouvre la vision de territoires inconnus et de métamorphoses possibles, où des gens œuvrent, convergent, circulent, passent.
L’endroit dans lequel on revient ne gagne-t-il pas en résonances plus intimes, plus profondes, plus universelles ?
Cette exposition sur la péniche Djébelle, posée sur l’Adour à Bayonne, nous laisse découvrir toutes les œuvres originales à la source de ce livre.
Peintures sur toile sur papier – photographies – dessins… expriment ce lieu toujours en devenir.
Car le songe s’est réalisé avec la collaboration de l’artiste Jacqui Colley, qui l’a mis en forme de livre. C’est une œuvre d’art plurielle en 60 exemplaires signés et numérotés.

Volte-temps dans le port de Bayonne – or the idea of a painting in the shape of a book.
The project re-visits the industrial harbor of Bayonne; a Basque city on the southern part of the Atlantic coast.
In this specific location people work, converge and pass through colossal cranes and merchant ships. The industrial presence interrupts and appropriates the natural landscape, giving it a brutal rhythm and harsh aesthetics. Re-visiting this place over a period of time forged both intimacy and universality – the process being both intentional and open to wonder and curiosity.

The book, alongside the original paintings, drawings and photographs, that are the visual source of this project, were exhibited at the end of September 2023, a solo show on the Djébelle; a barge moored on the Adour River in Bayonne.
In collaboration with artist Jacqui Colley, who helped curate a suite of of artworks to produce the book, I was able to realize the possibility of my idea – a plural art work of 60 signed, editioned and hand bound books.

I was invited on this fantastic artist residency by the Pouch Cove foundation.
August and September 2022 in Pouch Cove, Newfoundland to work, work, work and mingle with amazing artists from different parts of the world as there are 8 self-contained studios with a huge working space, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. It is such an important time for an artist to be able to experiment and dive head on in one’s practice with the inspirating exchange of ideas with one’s peers.

Invitée par la Pouch Cove Foundation pour une résidence de deux mois à Terre Neuve, Canada. Une expérience particulièrement importante que celle de pouvoir travailler et expérimenter comme on le veut. Et les échanges avec les autres artistes, venus du Canada des États-Unis, d’Argentine, du Royaume-Unis furent si enrichissements !
